Through the screen door

2012 - 2018

These images of my daughter started back in 2012, at a time when I first felt her pulling away. We were starting the long walk out of childhood and the realization that she would, inevitably, be moving out and into the world without me. There have been many times I wish I could walk back though the screen door into the kitchen of her childhood, where music is playing, the kettle is on and old routines are still in place with school, homework, friendships and family. But the march is forward not backwards. These images are a collection of moments that tell stories in my mind that I hope never to forget.

The images in this collection were all hand printed using the Platinum Palladium process

There have been many times I wish I could walk though our back door, back into the kitchen of her childhood where the kettle is on, music is playing and old routines are still in place with school, homework, friendships and family. But the march is forward not backwards.

These images were made very much as a collaboration with my daughter. I feel lucky she offered me this glimpse into her life, allowing me to feel a part of her world as she became more independent and removed from mine.
