2023 - 2024

I consider this collection of images  a  second chapter to a previous series of work called  Leaving. Both are about my relationship with my daughter, from adolescence into early adulthood.   Watching her move into her twenties, reawakens memories and feelings of  my own 20 something self. In my memory, my twenties was an adventuresome time, boundless horizons yet also  hard lessons, questioning, loneliness, doubt. Entering the adult world not quite yet an adult.

As a bystander, I understand now the awareness that only age can bring.  While there is a gloriousness to your twenties there is also a search, a hunt for something, you’re not quite sure what. At that time, in my twenties, I felt emboldened by the possibilities of what I  didn’t know. Yet now as a witness, and  a mother at 60, I am philosophic, quiet, and watchful.
