New shoes…cool shoes
We went shoe shopping the other day…if you have a girl, you know the drill. Every age has a shoe. In the beginning, we would buy what I wanted…that was great. Then around 5 or 6 we’d buy what I want and the shoes were never worn. So, I gave up the fight and went with the flow. First it was Merrils in pink or purple. Then pink or purple apparently were out and we moved onto beige and blue. In the summer it was always Tevas til it had to be flip flops with sparkles. By 4th grade, we moved into Uggs…a shoe which completely mystifies me. How did this expensive shoe become so popular and do you know how quickly a 4th grader can ruin them? You probably do… Thankfully, we’ve moved on…and now the shoe of choice is Converse sneakers which I personally think is the coolest shoe of all. I have a pair which I think will horrify my daughter some day. Mine, however, are not black…that’s too cool for me…:) I love this photo of her shoes …twenty years from now, when I find this image in a stack of old photo, I’ll remember my beautiful girl at a wonderful age &, her cool shoes…and smile.
Homework
We’re studying Colonial History here…all of us. We talk about it at dinner, search the internet, organize notecards. And I think it’s really fun…most likely because it reminds me of when I was in 5th grade doing the same thing (the olden days as it’s apprentaly referred to.) It’s fun catching up with Thomas Jefferson, John Adams and Benjamin Franklin. See what I remember about the Continental Congress and the Declaration of Independence. Does this ever happen to you? Watching your kids study…it’s like stepping back in time.
Snow Days…
. . . can be the best days for best friends.

Christmas wish…
On this stormy, rainy, blustery morning, 16 days before Christmas, a summer wish…to be barefoot at the beach on a sunny, day. Makes me smile just to think of it…

An afternoon at the beach…
These were taken at Tod’s Point on a beautiful fall afternoon. Doesn’t this make you want to go to the beach at sunset and run around barefoot? It was a great session…:)
